Rose Detective Book Nook was a joy to put together. Gorgeous graphics, top quality materials, precision parts that snapped together like a dream. The kit provided lots of backup pieces, but I didn't need any. Helpful hints: 1) use 2 longest wired bulbs for second floor front wall & right wall installations; 2) feed enough wire on touch pad to reach installation point in center of front wall; 3) trust that touch pad will work even through piece of wood (it will!); 4) don't glue walls together - they snap together & provide a bit of flexibility that is helpful when fitting exterior walls on. I LOVE it & am totally delighted!
Okay. I like doing book nooks. I've done about 11 so far, but this one was an absolute joy to do and probably #1 on my list right now. A few of the good things- ITS 2 STORIES (such a neat idea that really utilizes the space and gives you 2 totally different scenes), you don't start messing with wires until the end, there isn't a million paper items to make and alot of the parts are made to look more dimensional by gluing a duplicate part over the original to make it look more realistic. Actually to be honest there wasn't anything I didnt like about this. Everything fit together really easily, lined up great whether it was small or big. You also don't need alot of gluing. Most pieces are made to snap into each other. Which, brings me to another good point that you could pretty much continuously build this, without having to take major breaks for glue drying. The detail on the printing is well done, as is the instructions. They are in color and do a wonderfull job of emphasizing where something goes. Especially the wiring! Which can be a real pain sometimes. This one was very simple to follow without getting mixed up. I think my favorite part of it all though, is the moving parts! The main door has a wheel underneath the unit you can spin to open and shut the door and there's a HIDDEN PASSAGE behind a moving bookcase! Like.. how cool! There's a simple piece on the back of the unit you slide to open and shut the bookcase. The lighting is well placed and very bright, white light. It did also come with a dust cover.
Surely the most impressive book nook of this company, beautiful, complex but not complicated, and three distinct locations, exterior, entrance and office. Impeccable cutting, no broken parts.
I love the way you are able to interact and move doors/ drawer in this book nook.Easy to build. I would move the touch switch to the out side when building so you can use it while the dust cover is on
